This year’s celebration includes a theatrical performance of “In Their Own Words: Enduring Slavery & Freedom."  Local actor Barbette Hunter leads an ensemble group of actors who dramatize accounts of slavery. This group of actors has been recognized by the Indy Week in their "Best of Triangle Theatre 2012" in the following categories: Best Ensemble, Best Direction, Best Production and Special Achievement in the Humanities. This ensemble was honored again by the Indy Week in their "Best of Triangle Theatre 2014" in the category of Best Production.
